Rewindable asynchronous and permanent magnet synchronous submersible motors with high efficiency, NEMA flanging, IP68 protection, and patented technologies.

Caprari’s specialization in the design and production of submersible pumps—renowned for the breadth and performance of its range—is further strengthened by a long-standing expertise in the development of submersible motors. This internal expertise enables optimal integration between components and ensures high system efficiency.

In today’s context, increasingly focused on energy efficiency and ecodesign principles, the Extended Product Approach concept plays a strategic role. Shifting the focus from individual elements—pump or motor—to a systemic perspective makes it possible to achieve concrete benefits, especially in terms of real-world operating efficiency.

What is now a recognized value in both regulations and design practices has always been an integral part of Caprari’s production philosophy. From the beginning, the company has leveraged its knowledge of submersible motors to enhance the performance, reliability, and longevity of its pumps.

Today, Caprari relies on a highly specialized R&D team fully dedicated to submersible motor development. Supporting this activity are two production facilities, where different motor lines are manufactured, all sharing the same high-quality standards and a solid engineering philosophy.

This enables Caprari to offer a comprehensive portfolio of submersible motors that respond innovatively to a wide range of application needs.

Caprari submersible motors stand out for their high-level technical features:

  • Top-tier efficiency, achieved through precise electromechanical design and material optimization;
  • Wide selection of winding types, tailored to different operating conditions and environments;
  • Caprari exclusive patended technologies, offering unique advantages in terms of performance, durability, and reliability.

MAC Series submersible motors: excellence Made in Italy

MAC series submersible motors are 100% Made in Italy and perfectly express Caprari’s technical know-how. They are ideal for deep wells, industrial applications, and water supply systems. Thanks to exclusive design features and patented technologies, these motors stand apart from anything else on the market, offering outstanding performance, robustness, and long-term reliability.

These are rewindable asynchronous motors, operating in a water-filled environment, which ensures uniform cooling, constant lubrication of moving parts  and reduced maintenance requirements. The IP68 protection rating makes them suitable for use at significant depths while maintaining a perfect seal.

They are available in power ratings from 4 to 440 kW, sizes from 6” to 14”, in 2- or 4-pole versions, operating at 50/60 Hz. They can be produced in various metallurgies—cast iron, bronze, and stainless steel 316—all certified for drinking water use and made with materials compliant with relevant regulations.

To ensure flexible connection and better insulation, the motors feature round single-core output cables. The NEMA 6–8 standard flanging allows for easy coupling and interchangeability.

Efficiency is best-in-class, ranging from 79% to 89%. For heavy-duty applications—such as hot water use or inverter operation—CPLUS versions are available as standard. These feature a double insulation layer (PE2+PA) for even greater resistance and durability.

The motor shaft parts are joined without welding, using a unique production method. One part of the shaft is expanded through thermal induction at lower temperatures than welding (a few hundred °C versus over 1000 °C), and the other part is inserted into it. Upon cooling, the two parts become joined by interference fit, resulting in greater mechanical strength and durability, even in the most demanding conditions.

Key patented technologies:

  • HT Bearing: a thrust bearing capable of handling axial loads up to 70kN. A major advancement that minimizes wear and maintains efficiency even under heavy loads.
  • Motor Protector: a sand-blocking device developed to seal the coupling area between pump and motor, protecting it from abrasive particles. This preserves the mechanical seal and coupling, ensuring higher reliability in challenging environments.

MPC Easywell series: reliability and optimized cost-performance

This motor generation stems from Caprari’s desire to deliver optimized cost-performance solutions while maintaining the high reliability standards essential for this product category.

MPC motors are rewindable three-phase asynchronous motors, water-filled, designed for strength and long-lasting performance. They are available in sizes 6” to 10”, with power from 4 to 150 kW, 2-pole, operating at 50/60 Hz. They feature flat multi-core output cables and NEMA 6–8 flanging.

In addition to the cast iron version, an AISI 316 stainless steel version is available, ensuring maximum corrosion resistance in aggressive environments.

Technical features include:

  • SIC–SIC mechanical seal, with both rings in silicon carbide, offering excellent wear and chemical resistance;
  • Graphite-based self-lubricating composite line bearings, ensuring precise alignment and long service life;
  • Thrust bearing rated up to 65kN, for high-load applications.

MPC motors are also available in the K version, with double-layer winding insulation for better resistance to hot water and inverter use.

They offer excellent electrical efficiency, ranging between 75% and 87%, confirming their performance even in tough operating conditions.

MMP Series: advanced technology for maximum energy savings

In applications with high energy consumption, permanent magnet motors are the ideal solution. This advanced technology delivers maximum efficiency, compact size, and high performance even at low speeds.

The MMP series is Caprari’s latest innovation in submersible motors, expanding the range with high-efficiency products in 6″, 8″, and 10″ sizes.

Made entirely in Italy and certified for potable water use, the MMP series includes all the patented features and design elements of the MAC series—HT Bearing, Motor Protector, interference-fit shaft, double-layer insulation, and multiple metallurgy options (cast iron, bronze, stainless steel).

However, efficiency is even higher, ranging from 90% to 94%. This is because the rotor’s magnetic field is generated directly by the magnets, eliminating the need for induced currents and thereby avoiding energy losses.

Permanent magnet motors require an inverter for startup, but this technical necessity further contributes to energy savings.

Available in a wide power range from 4 to 220 kW, 4-pole, with operating frequencies of 100 Hz (3000 rpm, 400 V ±10%) and 120 Hz (3600 rpm, 460 V ±10%). The minimum operating frequency is 60 Hz, ensuring flexibility for various applications.

They are equipped with NEMA 6–8 flanging for compatibility with a broad range of pumps and round single-core output cables for easy installation and maintenance.

4” Series submersible motors: the smallest in the Range

Designed for coupling with 4” hydraulics and compliant with NEMA 4 international standards, these small-size asynchronous motors are also suitable for potable water applications.

Available in single-phase (up to 2.2 kW) and three-phase versions, 2-pole, operating at 50/60 Hz, with powers ranging from 0.37 to 7.5 kW. The standard version is oil-filled, with a water-filled option also available.

Thanks to their outstanding build quality, operational reliability, and strong performance, these motors have quickly become a market benchmark in their category.
